YamaDonga Review

YamaDonga the remake of YesterYear "YamaGola" of the great star 'NTR'. So, the expectations of the movie were sky high as it was being directed by the never let down director Rajamouli who never tasted failure but I think this time he may taste it.

The Film started with usual style of great introduction of NTR (transforming a tiger to NTR). A chase sequence to entertain the mass. Then starts the introduction of heroines as it happens in all films.Mamtha Mohandas role as a financer and Priyamani as a childhood friend of NTR who is waiting for him to come as a king and take her from the clutches of villian aunties and uncle who want to occupy her property(as it happens in all old films).

So why Yamadonga title :-) Yes We are coming it.One day NTR in a drunken state gived bad mouth to Yama(MohanBabu) who feels insulted and decides to kill him and get him to Yamaloka and torture him for that.So our NTR gets killed and lands in Yamloka and comes to know that he was killed and he plans and takes hold of Yamalokam and becomes the Young Yama. This part of the movie is well conceived by the director. So how NTR comes back to earth and how Yama plans again to get him killed and bring him back to yamaloka to torture forms the second half to be seen on screen.

NTR acted well and performed excellent as Young Yama(especially the long dailogues) the only saving grace of the movie.Mamta Mohandas got a meatier role than usual Priyamani role. Both heroines did well in their roles. You can even watch Late NTR dancing with Jr NTR which is a visual treat for fans.MohanBabu as Yama is Ok.All other characters are Ok.

In the technical department side, the music was Ok not that great except Daler Mehendi song. The sets were grand and were a treat to eyes. The production values were great. The direction was good in parts and the mass punch was missing which is there usually in Rajamouli films. The minus point is the action scenes which were not canned well which are expected to be different like all RajaMouli films.

My rating for this movie : 3/5
